Multifunctional protein that controls proliferation, differentiation and other functions in many cell types. Many cells synthesize TGFB1 and have specific receptors for it. It positively and negatively regulates many other growth factors. It plays an important role in bone remodeling as it is a potent stimulator of osteoblastic bone formation, causing chemotaxis, proliferation and differentiation in committed osteoblasts. (www.uniprot.org) Produced in E.coli. The TGF-beta 1 is purified by standard chromatographic techniques and shows a 51 kDa band on SDS-PAGE (including tag).

Introduction Transforming growth factor betas (TGF Betas) mediate many cell-cell interactions that occur during embryonic development. Three TGF Betas have been identified in mammals. TGF Beta 1, TGF Beta 2 and TGF Beta 3 are each synthesized as precursor proteins that are very similar in that each is cleaved to yield a 112 amino acid polypeptide that remains associated with the latent portion of the molecule. Description The TGF-b 1 (177-391 a.a.) is purified by standard chromatographic techniques and shows a 51 kDa band on SDS-PAGE (including GST tag). Source Escherichia Coli. Physical Appearance Sterile Filtered solution at a concentration of 0.1 mg/ml. Formulation The protein solution contains 50mM Tris-Acetate, pH-7.5, 1mM EDTA and 20% Glycerol. Stability TGF-beta 1 although stable at 4°C for 1 week, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Purity Greater than 80.0% as determined by(a) Analysis by RP-HPLC. (b) Analysis by SDS-PAGE. Amino acid sequence The sequence of the first five N-terminal amino acids was determined and was found to be Ala-Leu-Asp-Thr-Asn.
