Nerve growth factor is important for the development and maintenance of the sympathetic and sensory nervous systems. It stimulates division and differentiation of sympathetic and embryonic sensory neurons. (www.uniprot.org) Produced in CHO. Homodimer, glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 2 x 119 amino acids. The ED50, calculated by its ability to stimulate chick E9 DRG neurite outgrowth was found to be < 1.0 ng/ml.
