Monokine with inflammatory, pyrogenic and chemokinetic properties. Has a potent chemotactic activity for eosinophils. Binding to a high-affinity receptor activates calcium release in neutrophils. (www.uniprot.org) Produced in E.coli as a non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 69 amino acids. MIP-1alpha activates human granulocytes which can lead to acute neutrophilic inflammation.
