Induces cartilage and bone formation. May be the osteoinductive factor responsible for the phenomenon of epithelial osteogenesis. Plays a role in calcium regulation and bone homeostasis. (www.uniprot.org) Produced in E.coli as a monomeric, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 148 amino acids (fragment 293-431). The BMP-7 is fused to an 8 amino acid His Tag at C-terminus.
