Not yet clear. It is known to be expressed in a variety of tissues and it seems to be able to bind to cells, membranes and hydrophobic proteins. It has been associated with programmed cell death (apoptosis). (www.uniprot.org) Produced in HEK293cell line (Human embryonic kidney), containing 454 amino acids. The amino acid sequence 1-427 is identical to Swiss-Prot-P10909 (amino acid 23-449, secreted Human Clusterin), C-terminal His tag 27amino acids.
