What is an experiment without controls good for? Comprehensive controlling is a prerequisite for compelling experimental results with strong evidence. Cell lysates may serve as positive control of western blotting experiments. NanoTools offers a wide selection of cell lysates for different purposes:
Generally these cell lysates are lyophilized and are reconstituted by addition of 200 µL water. After complete solubilization you add 200 µl 2x SDS-PAGE sample buffer, mix and incubate at 90 °C for 5 min. Generally the use of 20 µL for a western blot with chemilumiescent detection is recommended. The lyophilized cell lysates contain SDS and are not recommended for applications with native proteins such as immunoprecipitation.
