IntroductionThe NBT/BCIP Solution is a chromogen used in immunohistochemical and chromogenic in situ hybridization applications. In the presence of alkaline phophatase (AP) NBT/BCIP Solution deposits a dark blue/violet precipitate. NBT/BCIP shows an excellent contrast with red horseradish peroxidase substrates. The reaction product is insoluble in alcohols and xylene and, therefore, a variety of counterstains and permanent mounting media can be used with NBT/BCIP.
