Introduction

AEC (3-Amino-9-Ethylcarbazole) is a commonly used chromogene for immunohistochemical (IHC) procedures supplied in one liquid component. In the presence of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) AEC Solution IHC deposits an intense red precipitate. The reaction product is soluble in alcohols and xylene and, therefore, aqueous counterstain and mounting media must be used.

Ready-to-use AEC Solution IHC in stabilizing buffer. Contains hydrogen peroxide. Optimized for the use in immunohistochemical (IHC) procedures to result in intensive staining with low background.

Recommended Guidelines For Use

Check AEC solution. In case of precipitates (not affecting quality) filtrate solution using a standard filter.
Cover specimen, which has been reacted with peroxidase conjugate, with AEC Solution.
Incubate for approx. 5-30 minutes * at room temperature.
To stop color development wash the slide in tap water.
If desired counterstain with e.g. Mayer‘s hematoxylin then rinse in tap water.
Mount slide with aqueous mounting medium.

* Monitor color development with a microscope.
