Anti-Microtubule-Associated Protein Tau Isoform 1 (TAU)

Human Tau protein (a.k.a., "microtubule-associated protein tau isoform 1") is a 78.902 kD protein (758aa) expressed in cortical neurons of the CNS. In normal individuals, tau contains moderate degrees of phosphorylation on various serine and threonine residues scattered throughout the N-terminal half of this protein. However in various neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, Tau becomes hyperphosphorylated on these residues, leading to the pathological formation of intracellular "neurofibrillary tangles." Such tangles are hallmarks of Alzheimer's disease, as well as various other neurodegenerative diseases, collectively known as the "tauopathies.", Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry and Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. , Recommended Dilutions: Immunohistochemistry: 1:10,000-1:20,000 using 2% paraformaldehyde tissues, Immunocytochemistry: 1:10,000-1:20,000 using 2% paraformaldehyde cells, Western Blot: 1:20,000-1:50,000, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Recommended Secondary Antibodies: I1906 IgY, Chicken Pab Rb x Ch , I1906-10 IgY, Chicken (HRP) Rb x Ch , I1906-12 IgY, Chicken (FITC) Rb x Ch , I1906-14 IgY, Chicken (AP) Rb x Ch, Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
